Started out late in the morning to go eat at a wonderful little place that had great falafel. For the rest of the day we spent bird watching in some scenic areas. It was amazing to see just how green the place really is. And just about from anywhere you can see the ocean. It's amazing how beautiful everything is. We walked around on paths stopping every once in a while to stop and listen for the different kinds of birds on the island. After that we went grocery shopping which was interesting and a little different than ones back home. Things are really expensive here, I think I under calculated that. Even though it doesn't sound like an eventful day it took about the whole day and I'm exhausted from lack of sleep. So I'm trying to go to bed at a reasonable hour tonight and hopefully it will set me on the right path as far as sleeping patterns. Here are some pictures.

This is just pretty :)

Fesh off the plane
I've just arrived at my new abode where I will be living for the next three months or so. It was a long trip but no real problems getting over here. It started out from Phoenix airport where I accidentally was at the wrong terminal and had to catch a bus to the next one, but there was plenty of time for me to get through security and get to my gate. It felt like a fairly short flight to Seattle. Once I got off I had to take a series of trains to get to the correct terminal for my flight to Tokyo, which at times was confusing. But I had the feeling I was going in the right direction when I was surrounded by Asian people. I had a nice chat with a Chinese woman over lunch and then it was time to settle down for the long 10 hour flight. The lady next to me was on her way to bring her daughter back from a mission in Singapore with her sons, she was pleasant and chatty. I'm so thankful for the modern technologies that we have, being able to watch movies on a flight like that is exactly what I wanted to do. Slept for a good portion of the time as well and before I knew it we were landing in Tokyo. I did forget my regular notebook on the plane with all my bird print outs ha. The only thing it said in there was the word "Birds". That will be a funny find. It was easy to get around in the airport there just following the masses basically, then going through a small checkpoint. I met up with two other girls on the trip and waited with them for our flight to Saipan. This was an especially short flight for me because I slept through the whole thing. I can tell that it will not be cold here, its very humid and I could feel my hair start to poof the minute I walked off the plane. I didn't get to see much of what was around when my instructor picked the three of us up because it was dark outside. I can't believe I'm actually here and that things are going to start right away.

Where am I going?
As I am preparing today for the trip I was thinking that people might want to send me something. Note that if you do send me something and it isn't on rush delivery just know I'll get it in 4-6 weeks and if it is then it'll get there in about 2 weeks... But if you so wish to send me something you can send it here:
PMB 757
Box 10000
Saipan, MP, 96950
I will be there from December to March.
Also since before this trip I had no idea where the Northern Mariana Islands were, I thought I'd put up a little picture to help out.

It's the final count down
So here is to the start of a new adventure of writing a blog thingy ma bob. Here it goes woo! As I walked through campus today to get to the study abroad meeting, all I could think about was how cold it was outside and how soon that will be changing. In just ten days I'll be off to a foreign place. So much to do before I leave! But I sit here procrastinating just about anything and everything, I think about the new experiences to come. Will it be easy travels? Will there be Oreos? So many things to ponder, but only time will tell what will happen. I'm excited to learn all there is to learn about the island and its inhabitants. I hope this experience helps with future jobs and personal growth. I know traveling to Australia for NOLS has changed me and I hope this quest brings a new perspective on life. I'll try to keep this up to date with the various activities and pictures. Wish me luck with packing!
This is what I'll be leaving.
